Introductory Lesson

If you want to give indoor rock climbing a try or it has been some time since you have done it, then the Introductory Lesson or the Introductory Lesson Plus is a great way to start.

Introductory Lesson Plus

This is an Introductory lesson with a two week membership with rental equipment included. The advantage to this option is that you can try it for two weeks to see if you like it.

Objectives

You and your climbing partner will:

Learn the correct way to put on a climbing harness;
Learn how to tie into a climbing harness with a double figure eight follow through knot;
Learn how to belay (operate the safety device);
Learn about our climbing route organizational and rating systems, and how to choose routes suitable for your ability; and
Learn about our bouldering, spotting, and safety.

Clothing

Climbers wear comfortable gym clothing. Please note that socks must be worn when using Rock and Rope Climbing Centre’s rental shoes.

Waiver

A Rock and Rope Climbing Centre waiver form must be read and signed by anyone participating in climbing activities. Persons under 18 years must also have a parent or legal guardian read and sign the waiver form.
